Senator Pia Cayetano and 200 other bikers trail blazed 70 kilometres from Puerto Princesa City to the municipality of Aborlan in Palawan to stage the 10th Bike for Hope held on January 29, 2011.

The event was an opportunity for Senator Cayetano to spread the word on her advocacies of healthy living, women empowerment and care for the environment. It was preceded by two-day seminars on breast-feeding and anti-violence against women and children. Barangay health workers, municipal officials and leaders from Narra, Aborlan, and Puerto Princesa attended the event to gain knowledge on how to effectively communicate the said issues to their local communities.

“Palawan never fails to amaze me. Mas maganda pa ang mga tanawin dito kaysa Thailand and Indonesia (The sceneries here are better than in Thailand and Indonesia),” said Cayetano in her message to the bikers. “Please continue to take care of your beautiful province,” she added.
“We, in Shell, advocate love for the environment too, that’s why we support events like these in Palawan and in many parts of the country,” said Marvi Trudeau of Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI). Cayetano, for her part, expressed her wish to help promote Palawan’s eco-tourism.
PSFI and Malampaya Foundation, Inc.’s Faljun Paul Tatoy and his team organised the starting venue set-up and the culminating venue’s physical arrangement in Aborlan. Malampaya belt bags, towels, and caps were given to the participants and volunteers, while special backpacks and tumblers were raffled off during the programme.

The 10th Bike for Hope was organised in collaboration with Pinay in Action, together with the Provincial Government of Palawan, Younghusband Football Academy, Coca-Cola Foundation, Unilab Active Health, Pfizer, Glaxo-Smithkline and Malampaya Deep Water Gas-to-Power Project. [SPEX Communications]
