Shell Philippines Exploration B.V. (SPEX) staff and guests visited The Mind Museum at Taguig on March 2 and 8, 2012. Shell is a donor of the museum, and SPEX was among those invited for a sneak peek before it formally opens to the public on March 16.

The Mind Museum makes science come to life through fun and engaging activities, featuring over 250 interactive exhibits. Dubbed as the first world-class science museum in the Philippines, The Mind Museum presents science through narration, taking off from our culture’s resonance with storytelling. The exhibition spans the entire range of nature’s elements, gleaned from the galleries, namely Atom, Life, Universe, Earth, and Technology.

The museum features five galleries on its two levels: The Story of the Universe, The Story of the Earth, The Story of Life, The Story of the Atom, and The Story of Technology. The Universe Gallery features five virtual exhibits, where donors can help build the museum by sponsoring a star, a constellation, or even an entire galaxy.

The Mind Museum also features a “How Things Work” wing, where the Malampaya Deep Water Gas-to-Power Project is on exhibit. Scale models of the platform and the onshore gas plant take centre stage. By pressing a “start up” button, lights show the journey of natural gas from its origin, to the platform, the pipeline and the onshore gas plant. [SPEX Communications]
