Archie Chua, one of Malampaya OGP’s operations engineers, was recently named as one of the Top 10 Outstanding Safety Professionals in the Philippines in the field of Safety Management Consultancy by the Ten Outstanding Cebu Architects and Engineers (TOCAE).

Archie has been working for Shell for 20 years and 14 of that he spent working in SPEX/Malampaya. In his two decades of working for Shell, Archie has greatly embodied the organization’s safety culture of bringing everyone home safely and contributed to OGP’s 19 years of Goal Zero.

A strong advocate of safety in the workplace, Archie has established the Programang Pangkaligtasan advocacy in 2010 to help less fortunate individuals, groups, and organizations gain knowledge and training in safety. He is also an accredited speaker and consultant of the Department of Labor and Employment-Occupational Safety and Health Center (DOLE-OSHC).

In the awarding ceremony held virtually, Archie extends his gratitude to Shell and shared, “I’d like to dedicate this award to my home of 20 plus years – Shell Philippines – which molded me to the safety career I now have. When I founded the Programang Pangkaligtasan advocacy in 2010, my goal is to help our less fortunate countrymen and organizations increase their personal and workplace safety awareness. And now 2021, with almost 230 members and followers, the advocacy became a way of life. This is also my way of thanking Shell, my family, and friends, who have been supporting me since the start. I would like to leave you with an inspirational thought that I always tell my safety officers during my training sessions – ‘Every night, just tell yourself that today, I have done good, tomorrow I will try to be better, and in the future, I will try to be the best.’ This is an encouraging word for you to challenge or motivate yourself to always do what you can for safety.”
